Parents are precious

On 30th May 2010, a normal sunday and we were waiting for the delivery of a new car I had booked a month back. My dad had come home for the delivery which had already got postponed twice due to some issues with loan disbursement. On Saturday while talking to the showroom executives, they agreed for delivery the next day.

We just thought of surprising our parents by presenting them with the car on Sunday, without they expecting it. Never did I think this would be the moment I will never forget. Early Sunday morning, both the brothers left for the showroom saying we are just going to chek the reason for the delay... We were on our way back and I was proudly at the streeing driving my way back home feeling proud of my achievement and the gift I could give my dad.

We reached home to surprise our parents. Somewhere he was expecting that we have gone to take the delivery, but he continued to act as if he was not knowing anything. Reaching home, my brother rushed up to call our parents. They came down, My dad started looking at the car, the color, admiring it silently he did not get very exited as neighbours were peeping in.

We went for a small drive and I proudly handed over the keys to him as my gift for him. He looked at the key, sat in the car and lookid at the dash silently. Admiring the car we asked him to drive us home as we were all happy and celebrating.
Reaching home we got down from the car, but my Dad was still sitting inside. Just when i was clicking car's pics I realised he was in the car with tears in his eyes. He looked admiringly at the car and came out in couple of minutes with a smile..
Post lunch, as we discussed the features, EMI and other things, he said, you have made me proud. I did not expect this big car from you at this age. Thanking me he said, "I wished i could also one like this for my dad"..
He had tears in his eyes. Never in past I saw a person as strong as my dad with so many tears and filled with emotions... I just laid back and though.. as a child, how many dreams our
parents have made come true. Without understanding the financial situation, we ask for cycles, video games, bikes, outings, etc. Irrespective of their affordability,
they have catered to all our needs.
Did we ever think about the sacrifices they had to make to accommodate many of our wishes? Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us? We tend to forget
that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they failed to see when they were young. It is our
responsibility to ensure that they experience all those and their life is complete.
Many times, when my parents had asked me some questions, I
have actually answered back without patience. .
Now I realize how they would have felt at those moments. Rather than my dad saying thank you to me, I would want to say sorry for making him wait so long for this small dream. I do realize how much he has sacrificed for my sake and I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes. Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up
everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also. They have wishes, too.

Take care of them. They are our parents. THEY ARE PRECIOUS
